My name is Graeme Gibbon-Brooks

I am a Maritime Security Expert

As a Principal Consultant and I advise governments, NGOs and companies on maritime security risk

I am a former Royal Navy Principal Warfare Officer.

I specialised in mine warfare, diving, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) and my research area is Maritime Asymmetric Warfare (MAW) which includes maritime terrorism, piracy and Special Forces Operations at sea.

I founded and ran the ‘Dryad’ series of businesses including Dryad Maritime, Dryad Tactical Development and Dryad Global which work in the maritime intelligence space advising shipping companies on piracy risk and mitigation.

Between 2020-2022 I ran the security, intelligence, EOD and strategic communications strands of the operation to deal with FSO SAFER; a 1970s Floating Storage and Offloading vessel in the Red Sea that threatens an environmental disaster.

I made the decision to remain active as a bomb disposal officer and vessel Captain because I feel it is the best way to ensure that my advice is current and as effective as possible.

I am genuinely fascinated by my study area and passionate about doing everything within my power to safeguard lives at sea.

Consulting

I am frequently asked to consult at inter-Governmental, intra-Governmental and Board Level projects to explain, forecast and mitigate risk. Specialise risks like Minewarfare and countering hostile Special Forces such as the Iranian Republican Guard Corps Navy.

Risk Forecasting and Mitigation products

I help established companies understand risk in frontier markets, with a special focus on effective policy informing actions onboard.

Accessing Frontier Markets

The most lucrative commodity deals often occur when ship owners and operators are able to safely access frontier markets such as Libya.

Today, I consult for a variety of international transport and civil engineering companies and am a frequent lecturer at conferences and continuing education programs.
